Assisted Rescue in a Covid way

Last weekend on our kayak course we completed a new assisted kayak rescue, the Covid Rescue. Here is how we rescued a swimmer and still stayed at a distance:

1. Kayaker capsized and rescuer assists with up righting the kayak. 

2. Rescuer pulls the up righted kayak on his deck and takes the bow in a 'bear hug'. Swimmer works his way up the back deck. 

3. Swimmer lies on the back deck with arms and legs on both sides of the kayak.

4. Swimmer scrambles his way from the back deck over the cockpit. 

5. Swimmer drops body into the cockpit and put legs back in while bracing with the paddle.

6. Swimmer closes sprayskirt, puts himself in a low brace position and rescuer releases the kayak back in the water.
